Les propositions concessives expriment une opposition malgré un fait établi. Elles utilisent des connecteurs comme although, even though, while, whereas pour nuancer le discours.
Exemple : Although it was late, we stayed to finish the work.
Bien qu'il soit tard, nous sommes restés pour finir le travail.
Connecteurs concessifs
Although / Even though
Bien que, même si (concession forte)
• Although he was tired, he worked late.
• Even though it was raining, we went out.
While / Whereas
Tandis que, alors que (contraste)
• While she agreed, she had reservations.
• He is optimistic, whereas I am pessimistic.
Despite / In spite of
Malgré (+ nom/gérondif)
• Despite the rain, we continued.
• In spite of being tired, she finished.
