Past Continuous vs Past Simple — Exercice 1
Le past simple (I worked) raconte un événement terminé à un moment précis du passé. Le past continuous (I was working) décrit une action en cours dans le passé, souvent interrompue par un autre événement plus court. La combinaison des deux temps est très fréquente : While I was reading, the phone rang. On emploie aussi le past continuous pour planter un décor, décrire deux actions parallèles, ou souligner la durée. Certains verbes d'état (know, want, believe, like) s'emploient rarement au continuous. Cet exercice vous aide à structurer un récit au passé et à choisir le bon aspect verbal.
