Le mouvement se découpe en sept prépositions : to (vers une destination), into (entrer dans un espace fermé), onto (se poser sur une surface), from (l’origine), towards (une direction, sans arrivée garantie), out of (sortir d’un espace fermé), off (descendre d’un support ou s’en détacher).
Le piège numéro un est to/into : « go to the room » décrit la destination générale, « go into the room » insiste sur le franchissement du seuil — les deux existent mais ne se confondent pas avec « in » (qui décrit une position, pas un mouvement). Deuxième piège : les verbes de trajet + école/travail/lit se construisent sans « in » — go to school, go to bed, jamais « go in school ». Les couples antonymes se mémorisent par paire : into/out of, onto/off, to/from. Astuce : posez-vous la question « d’où vers où ? » — l’origine appelle from, la destination appelle to ou into selon qu’on entre ou non dans un espace.
