ITS
Possessif — jamais d’apostrophe
- The firm lost its contract. (son contrat)
- The dog licked its paw. (sa patte)
IT’S
Contraction de it is ou it has
- It’s raining. (= it is)
- It’s been raining. (= it has)
Astuce mnémotechnique
Remplacez le mot par « it is ». Si la phrase tient debout → it’s. Sinon → its. Rappel : les pronoms possessifs (his, her, its, our, their) ne prennent jamais d’apostrophe.
