Utilisations principales
1. Action en cours dans le passé
Pour décrire une action qui était en progression à un moment donné
I was working at 9 AM yesterday.
2. Interruption
Action en cours interrompue par une action courte
I was cooking when the doorbell rang.
3. Simultanéité
Deux actions qui se déroulaient en même temps
While I was reading, she was writing.
