Combinaisons narratives
Past Perfect + Past Simple
Action antérieure + action principale
• I had left when he arrived. (J'étais parti quand il est arrivé)
• She had finished her work before the meeting started.
Past Continuous + Past Simple
Action en cours + interruption
• She was crying while he was shouting. (Actions simultanées)
• I was reading when the phone rang. (Interruption)
Combinaison triple
Past Perfect + Past Continuous + Past Simple
• He had been working for hours when I called him.
• They had been discussing the plan while I was sleeping.
